They released a demo, which is what prompted me to make this post. The buildings in the game are clearly the old art, just with higher resomolutions: Gameplay is the same, sound files (at least the ones I've heard) are the same, music is the same, etc.
The update is basically a hi-rez reskin of the original. Lethis was absolutely a love note to the old Impressions Ancient City Building games, so they're definitely coming at it from a place of admiration and affection. Triskell Interactive, the French gaming developer who created Lethis: Path of Progress, got tapped to make an official remake/update of Pharaoh.
However, C3 is available from both Steam and GOG (and who knows where else) for the price of a frozen pizza.Īs if that weren't enough (and you'd certainly think it would be), Pharaoh is also getting an update. They're mods, so you have to have the original C3 installed for them to work. Definitely worth a look if you have trouble with the original game. The Augustus mod has revitalized the game for a new generation of gamers and it's gotten a lot of traction on Reddit and various other places online dedicated to these city building games.
